What determines the price of installing a socket?
One socket is fitted in no time, another calls for running cable and chasing work. Together these points determine what your socket costs. That way you understand where the price comes from.
Spurring or new cable
Spurring off an existing point is the quickest and therefore the cheapest. A new cable from the meter cabinet or nearest circuit costs more time and materials.
Surface-mounted or concealed
Visible surface mounting is better value. If you want the cable chased into the wall, that adds cutting and routing work, plus making good and finishing.
Distance and cable length
The further the socket is from an existing point or the fuse box, the more cable and work. A long run through several rooms adds up.
Number of sockets
Several sockets at once works out cheaper each. We make one journey and finish the job in one go.
Type and location
An outdoor socket must be splashproof, a bathroom socket in the correct safety zone, three-phase power on its own heavy circuit. That calls for heavier materials.
Wall and access
A brick wall is harder to chase than plasterboard. A cramped or boxed-in spot takes more time than an easily reachable wall.

Good to know before you start
A socket is small work, but a few choices determine the price and the safety. This is handy to know.
Spurring off an existing point or a dedicated circuit
The cheapest is spurring: we take the power from a socket already in place. That works fine, as long as the existing circuit does not become too heavily loaded. For a few lights or a phone charger that is no issue.
If you are going to connect heavy appliances, or there are already many sockets on one circuit, we prefer to run a new cable from the meter cabinet. That stops the fuse tripping and keeps the installation safely distributed.
When an extra circuit is needed
Heavy appliances belong on their own circuit: an oven, an induction hob, a washing machine, a tumble dryer. If you want such a connection added, we often fit an extra circuit in the meter cabinet. Reckon on €90 to €175 for that circuit, on top of the socket itself.

Safety, earthing and bathroom zones
Every socket should be earthed and sit behind an RCD. In older homes the earthing is sometimes missing. We then check that first, because a socket without earthing is not safe.
Extra rules apply in a bathroom: a socket may not be too close to the bath or shower, and must be in the correct safety zone. We know exactly where it is and is not allowed, so it complies with NEN 1010.
VAT and what is in the price
All prices on this page are including 21% VAT and including fitting. For installing a socket in an existing home the normal VAT rate of 21% applies.
Our quote states a fixed price: materials, labour, the call-out charge and the connecting and testing together. No after-the-fact billing, no surprises. Only if something unexpected turns up during the work, for example missing earthing, do we discuss it with you first before we continue.

Do several sockets at once
If you know you need more, have them installed in one go. You only pay the call-out charge once and considerably less each than individually.
Choose surface mounting where it is allowed
In a garage, shed or store a visible surface-mounted socket is perfectly fine. That saves the chasing and finishing that a concealed socket requires.
Combine with other work
Are we coming round anyway for your fuse box or another job? Then have the socket done at the same time. One journey saves money.
