Electrician in Eindhoven

Eindhoven is the technology heart of Brabant, and that shows in the electrical work. The city is growing fast, driven by knowledge workers, expats and students, and has around 250,000 residents spread across neighbourhoods with very different housing. In Woensel and Gestel you'll find many post-war reconstruction homes from the 1950s and 1960s: often social housing and flats. In Stratum, Tongelre and the city centre there is a mix of pre-war and more modern properties. We know the differences: replacing a fuse box in a 1950s flat is a different job from upgrading a connection in a modern home. Whatever the size of the job, you get a clear, fixed price upfront.

The Philips history is tangible throughout the city. In Philipsdorp and Drents Dorp you'll find the old workers' houses that Philips once built for its staff: charming properties, but often with an outdated installation, too few circuits, no proper RCD protection and wiring that has been extended over the years. Eindhoven is also a genuine student city, with TU/e, Fontys and the Design Academy. Many properties are in multiple occupation, and an old installation quickly ends up with too many devices on too few circuits. We check the consumer unit, add extra circuits where needed and fit a proper RCD, so shared houses and rooms are safe again.

At the same time, Eindhoven is building at pace. On Strijp-S, an old Philips factory site has become a dense residential neighbourhood of lofts, apartments and many owners' associations (VvE's). The questions there are different: an EV charger in a shared car park, a smart consumer unit, additional circuits for induction and a heat pump. Demand for EV chargers across the city is growing quickly, partly because of the many knowledge workers with electric cars. We advise on what a property can handle, liaise neatly with the VvE where needed and install everything to NEN 1010, certified and with a two-year guarantee.

Important to know, and something you will rarely hear from other electricians: the grid in Eindhoven is extremely congested. Grid operator Enexis has put the area under heavy pressure. For new or heavier high-usage connections, a waiting list applies from 1 July 2026, and waiting times may stretch to around ten years. Exporting solar power is also restricted in some locations. For a standard domestic connection things are usually still fine, but for upgrades or heavy connections we look honestly at what is possible and what the timeline is.
