The capacity in kWh determines most of the price. These are guide prices for a complete system: battery, inverter and connecting it safely to the NEN 1010 standard. Larger systems are often slightly better value per kWh.

What determines the price of a home battery?
No two homes are the same. Together these points determine what your home battery costs. That way you understand where your price comes from.
Capacity in kWh
The more kWh, the higher the price, but per kWh you are often better off with a larger system. Choose what suits your usage, no bigger than necessary.
Battery plus inverter
A battery needs an inverter. Sometimes that is already built into your solar panel inverter (hybrid), sometimes a separate one is added. That makes a difference to the price.
Single-phase or three-phase
Connecting to three-phase is heavier work and costs more. It is needed for greater power, such as in combination with an EV charger or heat pump.
Fixed system or plug-in
A large battery with an inverter is permanently installed. A plug-in is smaller and you plug it in partly yourself, which keeps the installation costs lower.
Room and meter cabinet
Is there space in or next to the meter cabinet, and is it in good order? A cramped or outdated meter cabinet, or fitting an extra circuit, can mean extra work.
Brand and quality
Batteries differ in lifespan, guarantee and number of charge cycles. Cheap is not always good value: a solid battery lasts longer.

5 kWh with existing solar panels
A terraced house with solar panels and a hybrid inverter that is battery-ready. The residents want to use their own solar power in the evening rather than feed it back.

With a large system like this the battery works out lower per kWh, here around € 420 per kWh. With this usage and a dynamic tariff, the payback time comes out indicatively around 9 to 11 years. That remains an estimate, heavily dependent on usage, tariff and prices: we do not promise hard figures.

Worth it or not? An honest account
A home battery is a substantial investment, and whether it pays off is a moving target. We explain plainly what it depends on, so you can make a well-considered choice.
Payback time: reckon on 7 to 12 years
Honestly: the payback time of a home battery is indicatively between 7 and 12 years, and that varies greatly per situation. It depends on your usage, your energy contract and how much of your own solar power you would otherwise feed back. Someone who uses a lot of power in the evening and has a dynamic tariff pays it back faster than someone on a fixed contract with little evening usage.
A home battery pays for itself in two ways. You use more of your own solar power instead of feeding it back cheaply, and with a dynamic tariff you can charge when power is cheap and use it when it is expensive. Both effects become more attractive now that the net metering scheme ends in 2027.
The net metering scheme ends in 2027
As long as you could fully net-meter your solar power, a home battery made little financial sense: power fed back was offset one for one. You can still net-meter up to and including 2026; from 2027 the scheme ends. Feeding back will then earn less and less, and sometimes you even pay feed-in charges to your energy supplier.
That makes it more attractive to store your own solar power and use it yourself. A home battery helps with exactly that. Precisely how the rules will play out over the coming years is still in flux, so we do not promise hard figures. What we do see is that the sums are becoming more favourable for many households than they were a few years ago.
Our role: safe connection to the NEN 1010 standard
We do not sell a brand and we do not push a system. Our role is the certified electrical installation: we connect your home battery safely to the NEN 1010 standard, on single-phase or three-phase, in or next to the meter cabinet, and hand it over tested. If you have already bought the battery somewhere, we simply connect it.
Connecting a battery is more precise work than it looks and has to be right: the correct circuit, the correct protection and a proper earth. Do it wrong and it is dangerous, and your insurer may refuse to pay out in the event of damage. That is why you leave the connection to a certified electrician; even with a plug-in battery we check whether your socket and circuit can handle it safely.
VAT, refunds and subsidies
The prices on this page are indicative and include VAT. Note: solar panels have carried the 0% rate since 2023, but for a standalone home battery the picture is more nuanced. A battery does not automatically fall under that same 0% scheme. So do not bank on a VAT refund on the battery; get properly informed in advance about what applies in your case.
National or local subsidies for a home battery are also in flux. There are plenty of stories doing the rounds about home battery subsidies for 2026, but schemes can change or disappear from year to year and from municipality to municipality. We promise nothing here: always check the current schemes with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and with your own municipality before you count on them.
Our quote always states a fixed price for the electrical work: materials, labour, connection and the final test together. No after-the-fact billing, no surprises. If something unexpected comes up during the work, for example a meter cabinet that needs adapting, we discuss it with you first.

Without compromising on safety, there are a few sensible ways to handle the investment.
Choose the right capacity
A battery that is too large for your usage will never pay for itself. We look at your annual usage and your solar power and give honest advice on what suits, not as big as possible. Do note: smaller batteries work out higher per kWh, easily around € 600 per kWh, while larger systems drop towards € 400 to € 500 per kWh. So bigger is better value per kWh, but only if you actually use the capacity.
Combine with a dynamic tariff
With a dynamic energy contract you charge when power is cheap and use it when it is expensive. That makes a battery financially far more attractive.
Combine the work
Have the battery connected at the moment you need solar panels, an EV charger or a heavier meter cabinet anyway. One journey and one job saves money.
