Quick answer

In short

Prices at a glance

Price per individual application

If you want to start small, you can have individual smart components fitted without a large system. These are guide prices including materials, fitting and certified connection in line with NEN 1010.

Smart switch or dimmerSwitch or dim lights via app or voice€ 60 to € 150 each
Smart lighting pointMake a lighting point smart, including in scenes€ 75 to € 175 per point

Price per system type: wireless or wired

If you want more than a few individual components, you choose a system. Wireless can be fitted afterwards without any breaking work and is better value. Wired (KNX or Loxone) is installed during a new build or renovation and is more robust and more future-proof. These are guide amounts by home size and ambition.

Price breakdown

What determines the price of home automation?

No two homes are the same, and neither are any two wish lists. Together these points determine what your home automation costs. That way you understand where your price comes from.

  • Wireless or wired

Wireless is fitted afterwards without any breaking work and is better value. Wired (KNX or Loxone) is installed during a renovation and costs more, but is more robust and lasts longer.

  • Number of points and functions

The more switches, lighting points, curtains and scenes you want to control, the more materials and work. Making one room smart is a different matter from the whole house.

  • New build, renovation or existing

During a renovation the wiring is open anyway, so wired is cheaper to build in. In an existing, finished home wireless is often the logical choice.

  • Adjusting the meter cabinet

Some systems need room in the fuse box or an extra circuit. If your box is full, extra work comes up. We discuss that upfront.

  • Brand and quality of components

There is a difference between budget components and solid, expandable systems. We are brand-independent and advise what suits your requirements and budget.

  • Programming and configuring

A system needs not only connecting but also configuring: scenes, time schedules and links. With a wired system this programming work is a real cost item.

Worked examples

Worked examples from practice

To give a feel for the price, here are three situations of the kind we often come across in Brabant. You always get your price upfront, fixed and tailored.

Entry level: smart lighting in the living room

A flat where the residents want to make their living room lighting smart: switching and dimming via the app and with a few mood scenes. Wireless, without any breaking work.

  • Two smart dimmers fitted€ 220
  • Three smart lighting points€ 360
  • Configure scenes and app€ 90
  • Call-out charge€ 39
Total€ 709

Fully wireless, fitted and configured in half a day. Easily expanded later.

Mid range wireless system, terraced house

A family in a terraced house wants to control lighting, switching and the curtains in the living room and bedrooms smartly, plus a smart thermostat. Wireless, because the house is finished.

  • Wireless system for lighting and switching€ 2.400
  • Electric curtain rails, two windows€ 800
  • Smart thermostat fitted€ 250
  • Programming and scenes€ 250
  • Call-out charge€ 39
Total€ 3.739

Everything controlled centrally via app and voice. Carried out over two half-days, neatly finished.

Wired KNX during a renovation

A semi-detached house is being substantially renovated. The owners want to install a future-proof wired KNX system straight away for lighting, sun shading and heating per room, while the walls are open anyway.

  • KNX cabling and components€ 7.500
  • Fuse box expansion€ 850
  • Programming and commissioning€ 2.200
  • Handover and test in line with NEN 1010included
Total€ 10.550

Fixed price after survey and design. Because the walls were open, the cabling could go in all at once. See also our house wiring cost page.

Good to know

Good to know before you choose

Home automation is a broad term. These three points help you make the right choice and understand what you are paying for.

Wireless or wired: what suits you?

Wireless home automation is fitted afterwards, without any chasing or breaking work. The components talk to each other via wifi, Zigbee or a similar protocol. It is better value, quick to fit and easy to expand. Ideal for an existing, finished home where you want to get smarter step by step.

Wired home automation (KNX or Loxone) is installed with fixed cables to a hub. That is more robust, more reliable and more future-proof, and it still works even if your wifi plays up now and then. The downside: you need open walls for it, so it is mainly logical for a new build or a major renovation. The investment is higher, but you build something that lasts for years.

In doubt? We do not push any brand or system. We look at your home, your plans and your budget, and advise honestly on what suits. Sometimes a handful of smart switches is already enough, sometimes a wired system really does pay off.

What can you automate?

Lighting is usually the starting point: switching, dimming and mood scenes, via the app, a switch or your voice. On top of that you can have sun shading and curtains open and close, schedule the heating per room and switch smart sockets.

Comfort and safety offer plenty of scope too: a video doorbell, a smart lock, smoke and water detectors that send you an alert, and presence simulation that switches lights as though you are at home. You decide how far you go, and you can always start small and expand later.

Why a certified connection matters

Smart switches, dimmers and systems interact with your fixed electrical installation. That connection should be done in line with NEN 1010, by someone who knows what they are doing. Wrongly connected dimmers or overloaded circuits are not a theoretical risk.

We take care of the certified installation and connection, whatever brand or system you choose. You get the work tested and handed over safely, with a guarantee. The app on your phone is the fun part; the safe installation underneath it is what we stand for.

VAT and what is in the price

All prices on this page are including 21% VAT and including fitting. For home automation in an existing home the normal VAT rate of 21% applies. Materials, labour, connection in line with NEN 1010 and the final test are in the price.

For an individual component or a small wireless system you get a fixed price upfront. For a large or wired system we first carry out a survey and a design, and only then do we give a fixed price. That way you know exactly where you stand, with no after-the-fact billing or surprises afterwards.

Smart savings

Smart ways to save on home automation

Without compromising on safety or quality, there are a few sensible ways to manage the costs.

Start small and expand

You do not have to make your whole home smart in one go. Start with lighting in the rooms where you get the most from it, and calmly build it up later. A wireless system is well set up for that.

Combine it with a renovation

Are you renovating or wiring the home anyway? Then a wired system is much cheaper to build in, because the walls are open anyway. Breaking things once saves a lot.

Choose what you actually use

Not every function adds the same value. We advise honestly on where smart switching gives you daily convenience or savings, and where it is mainly a fun gadget.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the price

Home automation is the collective term for technology that makes your home smart and automatic: lighting, heating, curtains, sun shading and security that you control via an app, a switch or your voice, and that can respond to time schedules or scenes. It ranges from a single smart switch to a complete wired system that controls your entire home.
A single smart switch costs € 60 to € 150, a wireless system for a home € 1,500 to € 5,000, and a complete wired system (KNX or Loxone) starts at around € 8,000 and runs up to € 25,000 or more. What you pay depends on how much you want to control and whether you choose wireless or wired. You always get a fixed price upfront.
You can often plug in a ready-made wireless device yourself. But as soon as it interacts with your fixed electrics, such as smart switches, dimmers or a system in the fuse box, leave that to a certified electrician. It must be connected in line with NEN 1010 and handed over safely. We do that brand-independently, with a guarantee.
Wireless home automation is fitted afterwards without any breaking work, is better value and easy to expand, ideal for an existing home. Wired home automation (KNX or Loxone) is more robust and more future-proof, but requires open walls and is therefore mainly logical for a new build or renovation. The investment is higher, but it lasts for years.
Yes. With a wireless system you start, for example, with smart lighting in the living room and expand later to curtains, thermostat or other rooms. We already take your future plans into account at the first installation, so expanding goes smoothly.
We are brand-independent and do not push any system. We look at your home, your requirements and your budget, and advise honestly on what suits. For wired it is usually KNX or Loxone, for wireless there are several solid options. You make the choice, we take care of the safe, certified installation.
That depends on the system. A wired system such as KNX or Loxone works locally and keeps functioning without internet; only remote control via the app drops out then. With wireless systems that rely on the cloud, an internet outage can have more impact. We discuss this upfront, so you know what you are choosing.
Yes. We give a 2-year guarantee on our installation work, and the manufacturer's warranty applies to the components. We hand over the installation tested and in line with NEN 1010, so you can be sure it is connected safely.
Yes, that is exactly what we are here for. As a certified and brand-independent installer, we come round across the whole of Noord-Brabant, from Eindhoven to Breda and from Den Bosch to Tilburg. We look at your home and requirements, advise which system suits and install everything safely in line with NEN 1010, from a single smart switch to a complete wired system.
